Motivic Milnor fiber of a quasi-ordinary hypersurface

    Get PDF
Let f : (Cd+1, 0) -> (C, 0) be a germ of complex analytic function such that its zero level defines an irreducible germ of quasi-ordinary hypersurface (S, 0) subset of (Cd+1, 0). We describe the motivic Igusa zeta function, the motivic Milnor fibre and the Hodge-Steenbrink spectrum of f at 0 in terms of topological invariants of (S, 0) subset of (Cd+1, 0)

Quo vadis accounting and auditing in Turkey

    Get PDF
The main purpose of the research was to illustrate the history of accounting and auditing in Turkey. It is found that auditing has evolved through a number of stages. Current status of accounting and auditing profession in Turkey has been examined in this study. Recent issues and applications with regard to the statutory audits in Turkey has examined in detail. Related problems and solutions will also be discussed from a broad perspective of the professional standards

Adaptive neurofuzzy ANFIS modeling of laser surface treatments

    Get PDF
This paper introduces a new ANFIS adaptive neurofuzzy inference model for laser surface heat treatments based on the Green’s function. Due to its high versatility, efficiency and low simulation time, this model is suitable not only for the analysis and design of control systems, but also for the development of an expert real time supervision system that would allow detecting and preventing any failure during the treatment

Hypogravity research and educational parabolic flight activities conducted in Barcelona: a new Hub of innovation in Europe

    Get PDF
We report on different research and educational activities related to parabolic flights conducted in Barcelona since 2008. We use a CAP10B single-engine aerobatic aircraft flying out of Sabadell Airport and operating in visual flight conditions providing up to 8 seconds of hypogravity for each parabola. Aside from biomedical experiments being conducted, different student teams have flown in parabolic flights in the framework of the international contest ‘Barcelona Zero-G Challenge’, and have published their results in relevant symposiums and scientific journals. The platform can certainly be a good testbed for a proof-of-concept before accessing other microgravity platforms, and has proved to be excellent for motivational student campaigns.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

From Perturbation Theory to Confinement: How the String Tension is built up

We study the spatial volume dependence of electric flux energies for SU(2) Yang-Mills fields on the torus with twisted boundary conditions. The results approach smoothly the rotational invariant Confinement regime. The would-be string tension is very close to the infinite volume result already for volumes of (1.2 fm.)3(1.2 \ {\rm fm.})^3. We speculate on the consequences of our result for the Confinement mechanism.Comment: 6p, ps-file (uuencoded). Contribution to Lattice'93 Conference (Dallas, 1993). Compound orbits break-up in constituents: an algorithm

    Get PDF
In this paper decomposition of periodic orbits in bifurcation diagrams are derived in unidimensional dynamics system xn+1=f(xn;r)x_{n+1}=f(x_{n};r), being ff an unimodal function. We proof a theorem which states the necessary and sufficient conditions for the break-up of compound orbits in their simpler constituents. A corollary to this theorem provides an algorithm for the computation of those orbits. This process closes the theoretical framework initiated in (Physica D, 239:1135--1146, 2010)

Embedded resolutions of non necessarily normal affine toric varieties

    Get PDF
We give a method to construct a partial embedded resolution of a nonnecessarily normal affine toric variety Z(Gamma) equivariantly embedded in a normal affine toric variety Z(rho). This partial resolution is an embedded normalization inside a normal toric ambient space and a resolution of singularities of the ambient space, which always exists, provides an embedded resolution. The advantage is that this partial resolution is completely determined by the embedding Z(Gamma) subset of Z(rho). As a by-product, the construction of the normalization is made without an explicit computation of the saturation of the semigroup Gamma of the toric variety (see [3]). This result is valid for a base field k algebraically closed of arbitrary characteristic

    Dual-Band Tunable Recursive Active Filter

This letter presents a novel recursive active filter topology that provides dual-band performance, with independent tuning capability in both bands. The dual-band operation is achieved by using two independent feedback lines. Additionally, linear phase shifters based on left-handed cells are included in these two branches in order to tune the center frequency of both pass bands

Public services provided with ICT in the smart city environment: the case of spanish cities

    Get PDF
Social, technological and economic changes, citizen demand of services modernization, new ICT developments related to the Internet of Things and an economic situation that urges more efficient public administrations, have allowed the adoption of ICT by municipalities in order to provide public services. All the foregoing constitutes a boost of the smart city concept, which is considered in the scientific literature mainly from a technical point of view, overlooking deeper analysis on the specific services being provided by means of smart technologies. The current research identifies services provided using smart technologies at 26 Spanish smart cities and the degree of smart development of those cities based on which services provide. The results highlight that the services most widely implemented are those that allow direct reductions in local administration expenditure. On the other hand, the remaining services enjoy greater perspectives of future development. Additionally, three groups of smart city development have been identified, which allows benchmarking analysis and enhances the exchange of information between the cities
